Original Arrested Development Stair Car

After making the mashup I decided to make the original stair car from Arrested Development.

All the parts are free to download here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:654789

The Cars themed truck has inject printed logos on paper, but this print is much bigger so I tried to print the logos with PLA. The results were pretty good, not perfect, but passable. I had to manually watch the printer change heights, then pause, change the filament, and resume printing. I started with white PLA, then switched to red, and finished it up with blue. I got lucky with all the logos, barely getting the timings right. This really drove home the advantages of open software. Makerbot is closed source. No one can add features or plugins to Makerbot’s printers, like, “Pause at height” a plugin included with Ultimaker’s Cura. I really want to add remote access and monitoring to my printer, but I can’t due to Makerbot’s¬†proprietary file format.
